2017 Dean’s Prize, 1st Place
- Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Sketchup
- Team project (3 people)
For a campus planning project at Utah State University, we were assigned to redevelop spaces between the Caine College of the Arts and the College of Engineering.
Inspired by artist, scientist and inventor, Leonard da Vinci, we looked into ways to integrate the two colleges.
Comparing the mission statements of each college helped us find overlapping goals that led to program elements such as kinetic sculptures and decorative lighting to be designed cooperatively by art and engineering students.
This idea of “fusion” was what put us above the other teams and won us the competition. This taught me that sometimes it pays to follow your gut and propose an idea that’s different or a little unusual.
